Walk

My grand finale of 2013 was reading Walking With Mary (a pretty sweet way to end a year and begin a new one, might I add).  If you read the book review on my personal blog, you'll find that I especially enjoyed getting to know her more as a friend and not seeing her anymore as some fictional character from the movies or a book.  I was graced with this new perspective simply because I took the time to be with her as I read the book.  The title itself invites you to walk with her on a biblical journey from Nazareth to the Cross, so I pictured myself taking a walk with her through the woods (one of my favorite activities to do alone or with a friend), simply reminiscing about times' past.  Getting to know each other better.  Walking with her.

On December 31, as I was praying about the impending events of 2014, I dearly wanted only one thing: to walk with Jesus and get to know him better.  I spent Advent journeying with his mother and learned more about him through her eyes.  Now I am preparing to finish my degree and discern the next step in my life.  And I want to do that while walking with Jesus and Mary.  I desire to slow down my brisker walking pace (read: sprint) and focus on enjoying the company of and getting to know Jesus and Mary better by walking with them.

There will be big transitions in my life in 2014.  Transitions are not something I've ever been a fan of, but I am excited to welcome this new phase.  God-willing, I'll finish my studies, pack away a few text books, giveaway the rest, leave behind the oftentimes chaotic schedule of a full-time college student, and step into the life of a young adult, hopefully working full-time and spending my free time in the company of family and friends, sharing our time and making memories together.

But I am not there yet.

So I begin this year praying for the patience and perseverance to walk with Jesus and Mary through this beautiful thing called life.
