Technology is cool

I've sure somewhere at some time I've written something about the dangers of modern technology. And it is always good to keep an eye open and make sure we don't lose real things, and maybe ourselves, in a cold cyber-world.

But today is a day for stating that technology is cool, because, for all its dangers, it also has the capability of bringing real, beautiful things into our lives that couldn't otherwise have been got. For example, the community of young Catholic women that we've been building here.

Here's another example:

Just recently I finally got to have a face-to-face conversation with our very own Liz. Despite the fact that we live on opposite coasts, we were able to have something very close to a living room chat, thanks to the wonders of Skype. It was SO nice to finally get to have a real talk with her. She's everything you'd expect her to be from her writing: sweet, full of fun and laughter, and super friendly.

Spending time with her in person is still on my to-do list - we won't have to worry about poor connection, choppy sound quality, or potential lost calls - but in the meantime it was such a treat to hang out together through video.

Thank you for stopping by CYW! Comments are always welcome, and we appreciate your thoughts. CYW is meant to be a community of like-minded Catholic women, so hearing from our readers always make us smile.

Disagreement is permitted, but we require that some sort of name be attached to the comment rather than simply leaving it anonymous and that charity always be maintained. And, though criticism of a post is acceptable, any derisive remarks about the personal lives of the contributors are considered unacceptable.

Comments are moderated for the sake of our young readers.

God bless!
