54-Day Rosary Novena

Our 54-Day Rosary Novena for our future husbands begins tomorrow, May 26th. For those of you who aren't familiar with the novena, it basically consists of this: three novenas said in supplication, and three said in thanksgiving. That is, a rosary every day for 27 days for the intention, and then a rosary every day for 27 days in thanksgiving (even if we haven't seen any visible answer).

Like last time, I'll be posting daily updates of where we are on our Facebook page.

Adding a daily prayer to St. Joseph would be a wonderful thing, as well. And here's a prayer I found at Catholic Online that you could add to your rosary:

O Jesus, lover of the young, the dearest Friend I have, in all confidence I open my heart to You to beg Your light and assistance in the important task of planning my future. Give me the light of Your grace, that I may decide wisely concerning the person who is to be my partner through life. Dearest Jesus, send me such a one whom in Your divine wisdom You judge best suited to be united with me in marriage. May his character reflect some of the traits of Your own Sacred Heart. May he be upright, loyal, pure, sincere and noble, so that with united efforts and with pure and unselfish love we both may strive to perfect ourselves in soul and body, as well as the children it may please You to entrust to our care. Bless our friendship before marriage, that sin may have no part in it. May our mutual love bind us so closely, that our future home may ever be most like Your own at Nazareth.

O Mary Immaculate, sweet Mother of the young, to your special care I entrust the decision I am to make as to my future husband. You are my guiding Star! Direct me to the person with whom I can best cooperate in doing God's Holy Will, with whom I can live in peace, love and harmony in this life, and attain to eternal joys in the next. Amen.

  6. Ahh! I LOVE that prayer and have been praying it for years!! A homeschooling mom gave it to my family for my sister and me...I'll have to dig that out again!

  8. I pray that the young women using this devotion maintain a spirit of discernment and submission to God's will - even if His will calls one to religious life or singleness rather than to marriage.

  9. Hi there,

I'm a little late in starting this but I just have a question. When does one state the intention of the rosary. Is it at the end of the rosary or at the beginning of the rosary?

  10. Just a note of encouragement to say this absolutely works! I said many novenas, including the 54 Day Novena (and a devotion to St. Jude) to help me find my future husband. I even prayed for a specific sign to show he was the one. My prayer was absolutely answered. But stay persistent, it took several novenas to help shape me into the person I needed to be to be ready for my future husband and marriage. We've been married 10 years and I always know that he is the best possible person in the world for me.

  14. What kind of signs should a person ask for to be able to discern that the gentleman is the one? Thank you!

  16. It seems that after close to giving up, God reminded me to make myself holy before asking for a husband. And so I tried (and I'm still trying! Please pray for me and I will recommend you all in my prayers as well!). I asked for a sign, and I finally did receive it, although, doubtful as I am, I am still not confident. I will start the novena again, hopefully with more faith and love. Thank you so much for sharing this Clare!

  18. I will start the 54 Day Rosary tomorrow morning, along with the 9 day novena to the Immaculate Conception and hopes that God answer my prayer for a husband. One who will not ask me to give up my Catholic faith. I've been praying for 2 year now and I know God will answer my prayers soon. This will be the first time I have prayed the Rosary on my own so I hope I can finish the entire 54 days.
